Alberta anticipates the opening of Bear Hills Casino & Travel Resort, a tribal casino operated by the Louis Bull Tribe, one of the reserves in the Maskwacis community.

A VIP and media tour event showcased the facility ahead of its scheduled spring opening, highlighting its significance in providing over 80 job opportunities for Maskwacis and Central Alberta residents.

Gordon Rauscher, Bear Hills President and CEO, expressed gratitude for the community's support, emphasizing the casino's transformative journey from a dream to a reality.

The event, attended by around 100 members, tribal leadership, and project partners, including TD Bank, marked a pivotal moment for the Louis Bull Tribe.

The first construction phase includes:

  • A Petro-Canada petroleum station.
  • Public facilities for highway travellers.
  • The casino.
  • A performance stage.

Subsequent phases will introduce a hotel, event center, and restaurants, positioning Bear Hills as a multifaceted entertainment destination.

Approved for development in 2019, Bear Hills Casino aims to cater to gaming enthusiasts with 200 slot machines and 10 table games.

The project receives support from various lenders and a $500,000 grant for construction, announced by Hon. Rick Wilson, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Maskwacis-Wetaskiwin and Minister of Indigenous Relations for the Government of Alberta.
