Founded in 1997, Bwin is one of the biggest and best betting brands in the world of sports betting. Having run an online betting website since 1998, the company is one of the older, more dependable brand names who’ve seen and done it all.
They are a site that knows what the North American audience wants and for people in Ontario, Canada, there is no better sportsbook experience that you could hope for. The general saying goes – if you’re just going to have one sports betting app on your phone, then bwin would be a great choice!
As far as what that means in terms of features and the details, here’s what we found.
Bwin has always been setting the pace for the sportsbook industry and when it comes to their website, they are still one of the best out there when it comes to functionality.
The parlay generator on bwin is a unique tool that lets you create a parlay bet based on odds per selection or based on how much you’d like to win. So you can choose to create a custom parlay by simply sliding a bar and pre-furnishing your betslip with football betting events.
You have the option of only choosing NFL games to build your parlay from, without which it will pick up NCAA games as well. Once you have your combination, just add it to your betslip with one single click.
Different from eSports, Virtual Sports is basically a simulation of a real sporting event with real teams and players. Think of it like watching someone playing video games on Twitch. Bwin streams all their virtual sports in what appears to be animation-style videos showing the entire game in real time.
Bwin has a new feature where they allow you to build a bet by combining different selections – that means you get a whole bunch of props and lines to choose from, for a particular event, and then you can build your bet to include specific props and lines from other events. Build a Bet requires a minimum of 2-selections and you can only add events into your bet that increase the odds.
Bwin makes it extremely easy to find all the upcoming games for all their betting markets. They have a long list of events that they list out under upcoming as well as under a “Trending Now” section that tends to show games and events that are popular amongst the people who are betting on the website.
Bwin likes to keep things simple and they do the simple things well. So if you are looking for a non-flashy site where you can focus on the things that matter the most – Sports betting – then nothing better than Bwin!
Most betting companies tend to have a black background and Bwin isn’t any different. They have a lot of information being shared in greyscale so everything looks quite similar. However, the massive greyscale content means that they do get a lot of pop in the little colour sections they have – for example the parlay generator slider, the logos of teams, the Build a Bet events and so on.
The website can look a bit crowded and hard to read and when you do open a particular event, the page can look quite busy at first glance. You really have to take the time to look through things and figure out what’s what. In the end, it’s quite easy once you get the hang of it but when it comes to UI/UX, there’s a lot of room for improvement for Bwin.
The most irritating thing however is that once you click on a sport – say football – and you go in to see all the games on the football market, the list of sports on the left side-bar completely disappears and you only have the top menu to find your games again.
This is never going to be a problem area for Bwin, a company that offers some of the most unique and interesting options you can find in the world of sports betting. You get your complete dose of football, hockey, basketball, golf, tennis and soccer – and you also have the option of placing bets on Rugby, MMA, Formula 1, Biathlon, politics and virtual sports.
They have a long list of top sports that includes almost everything in their A-Z list of sports, but the point remains – you will rarely find something happening around the world of sports that you cannot bet on, on Bwin.
Check all your boxes here because Bwin offers you the best of football – from games to props, you will find everything you can expect on a sports betting website. The Build a Bet option comes with every game so that’s a nice little touch as well. You can also bet on virtual games involving NFL teams from the past – and that’s a brilliant touch to the usual world of football.
Hockey on Bwin is as fantastic an offering as you can expect – they cover all the top leagues in the world and also offer deep markets in each of the games you see. You can view the games by segregating on the basis of the competition or on the basis of the calendar (what happens when).
Everything from the NBA to the Polish basketball league, and everything in between, is covered by Bwin. They list the leagues and favourite leagues – all on the left sidebar so you can easily jump from one league to the next on your favourite sport.
College football and basketball get the same kind of attention on Bwin that their professional colleagues do, but it’s not the same for every sport. Only football and basketball are given special treatment – everything else is either left out or hidden in some corner that you have to really work hard to find.
Bwin is a European brand and almost all European brands live heavily off of soccer betting – and Bwin is no different! They have a strong collection of leagues and an incredibly high number of lines, props, handicaps and other betting events that will make you want to keep coming back for more.
Bwin makes a lot of noise with their betting odds – they are some of the best you will find in the industry and the more you compare their odds with others in the market, you will find that they are more often than not, the kind of site you want to bet on. They run great odds on almost all markets and the fact that you get a whole bunch of odds boosts, it will only serve to make your betting experience better.
Some of the other bookmakers out there are definitely more consistent with high quality odds but with Bwin, you can be sure that they will get it right more often than they get it wrong.
It is unusual to find the offers on Bwin positioned between the betting and casino links in the top-menu but it appears to be their way of distinguishing between the two. Their way of providing offers is slightly different – they want you to pick your favourite team in basketball and hockey, and they will send you offers specific to that team. Our assumption is that no matter what teams you pick, the offers are going to be the same, but it’s a different way to present the same thing.
You have an option to edit your bet where you can change or delete a bet that you have already placed on Bwin. There are plenty of T&Cs to go with it so make sure you check it all out. Finally, you have the welcome bonus that a $200 deposit match, up to 100% - all in all, nothing too great to write home about.
Bwin offers the following payment options for deposits:
Almost all these methods offer instant deposits into your account except Bank Transfers, which may take 1-5 days.
For withdrawals, Bwin offers the following options:
All the options take between 1 and 5-days to complete the transfer to your account, except MuchBetter, which takes up to 4hrs.
Bwin is one of the safest and most secure betting platforms in the world and there’s little to no doubt that after teaming up with Entain, they have become even stronger in this department. They offer the best and the safest security methods to store your personal data while partnering with the best payment providers ensures that they have a solid and secure transaction funnel for your deposits and withdrawals.
Bwin does something that we really aren’t big fans of – different apps for sports betting, casino and poker. That means, if you want to switch from one platform to another, you have to download each of those apps and find your way through to switching between them as you go along.
Then the other thing that was strange – if you search for the Bwin sports betting app on the App Store, you find it and download it only to find that it isn’t the app for Ontario, Canada. There is, however, nothing to tell you that it isn’t – and you are not prompted to download the right app – just sent to their Ontario website. So we went back to the App Store and looked for the Bwin Ontario app, and it showed the same app, which we downloaded and it worked. There was nothing to tell us that it was an Ontario app – just a little different in colour.
The app itself is much better to use than the website because the background is white and the text on it is black – that takes away the gloom of the main site and makes it a much more pleasant experience. Ironically, you can go to the casino and the poker room from the same app – so why they have separate apps is anyone’s guess. They get high marks for a great app that functions well, but low points for being so complicated to set things up.
Bwin has a major help section that provides a lot of content about most of the things you can image. They have more than adequate information about their features and functions, especially with each payment method getting a whole dedicated page with multiple FAQs answered along the way.
Some of their content does overlap with BetMGM content as they both fall under the Entain brand but the key factor is, they have an extremely competent support team available through chat, phone and email, should the comprehensive help section fail to solve your issue.
They don’t have too many reviews on the Apple App Store but the 26-reviews give them a rating of 4.3 out of 5. The most common complaints are around how difficult withdrawal is from their website but all in all, it has a relatively positive response.
On Google Play Store, the app has barely a few thousand downloads and there isn’t too much in terms of reviews of the app either. So the review setup for Google Play Store is still blank for Bwin – not a good sign.
Bwin is one of the bigger names in the market and the fact that they are in Ontario, battling it out with some of the other brands is a sign that there is a competent player in the market. However, as good as their website and odds might be, they do have a slightly indifferent approach to the market – something that becomes visible as soon as you dig a bit deeper.
They don’t have too many app downloads, they don’t have many offers and there are very few promos running on their site at any time. Compared to what some of the other top-brands are doing in Ontario, Bwin has a relatively small and almost insignificant footprint in the market. There is a lot of room for improvement but the question remains – would they want to do it or not?
