The Edmonton Oilers clinched their spot in the Stanley Cup Final after defeating the Dallas Stars on Sunday night, marking a historic milestone for veteran forward Corey Perry.
Perry has become the first player in National Hockey League history to reach the Finals with five different teams.
This unique statistic highlights Perry's journey through the NHL, demonstrating his adaptability and perseverance.
Early in his career, Perry experienced success with the Anaheim Ducks, winning the franchise's first and only Stanley Cup in 2007.
It would take another 13 years before he returned to the Finals, this time with the Dallas Stars in 2020. Despite his efforts, the Stars fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
In 2021, Perry joined the Montreal Canadiens and played a pivotal role in their surprising run to the Finals.
However, once again, the Lightning thwarted his championship dreams. This prompted Perry to sign with Tampa Bay to secure the team's third consecutive title.
Unfortunately, the Lightning lost to the Colorado Avalanche in the 2022 Finals.

Perry made history by becoming the first player to reach the Finals with three different teams in three consecutive years.
Perry's journey this season has been nothing short of remarkable, especially considering how it began.
The 39-year-old's unrestricted free agent rights were traded by Tampa Bay to the Chicago Blackhawks last June.
Perry signed with the Blackhawks to play alongside first-overall draft pick Connor Bedard.
However, his contract was terminated in November following an off-ice incident.
After nearly two months without a team, Perry was given a second chance when he signed with the Oilers for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
This move proved beneficial for both Perry and the Oilers, as he joined a team with solid championship aspirations.
During the regular season, Perry played 38 games with Edmonton, scoring eight goals and tallying 13 points.
He has also contributed an assist in 13 of the Oilers' 18 playoff games thus far.
Perry's veteran presence and experience have been invaluable as the Oilers look to capture the Stanley Cup.
As the Oilers prepare for the Finals, Perry's historic achievement stands as a testament to his enduring talent and resilience in the face of challenges.
With another opportunity at hockey's most coveted prize, Perry's journey inspires fans and teammates alike.
