The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is thrilled to announce its inaugural partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee.
This collaboration names OLG the Official Ontario Lottery Partner of Team Canada for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, expressed excitement: "Ontario is ready to cheer on Team Canada athletes as they compete in Paris this summer. This partnership highlights how OLG's support positively impacts people and communities across the province."
Jacqueline Ryan, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of the Canadian Olympic Committee and CEO of the Canadian Olympic Foundation, added, "We are thrilled to welcome OLG to Team Canada. Ontario's rich sporting history and OLG's support have significantly impacted athletes at both grassroots and Olympic levels."
Karen O'Neill, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, echoed this sentiment: "We are delighted to partner with OLG and welcome them into the Canadian Paralympic community. OLG's longstanding support for sport and athletes is invaluable in championing Ontario's Para athletes and inclusive sports across the province."
As excitement builds for the Paris 2024 Games, OLG highlights its players' role in supporting amateur athletes in Ontario through the "Sponsored by You" campaign, emphasizing that playing with OLG supports Ontario athletes.
Since 2006, OLG and the Ontario government have supported high-performance amateur athletes through the Quest for Gold program, providing financial aid to offset training and living expenses.
Maxine Chapman, VP Brand & Marketing Officer at OLG, stated, "Our ability to give back to communities is thanks to our players. We wanted to recognize and celebrate them."
The campaign features Team Canada athletes like Andre De Grasse, Penny Oleksiak, Maggie Mac Neil, Jillian Weir, and other Ontario athletes who have benefited from the Quest for Gold program.
Six-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse remarked, "Training for the Olympics requires immense preparation and community support. Programs like Quest for Gold and knowing your community supports you make all the difference."
The Quest for Gold program's success is evident: over 90% of Ontario medal winners in the last four Olympic cycles received funding from the program.
Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport, highlighted, "The Quest for Gold program showcases our government's efforts to enable Ontario athletes to achieve their full potential. We wish our athletes the best of luck in Paris!"
OLG is also bringing the "Sponsored by You" Portrait Studio to various Ontario communities this summer, allowing players to take personalized portraits to show their support for Ontario's athletes and win prizes, including Team Canada prize packs.
Additionally, buying a lottery ticket online at OLG.ca between July 15 and August 12, 2024, enters you for a chance to win a trip to the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games!
