With less than two weeks until the debut of online sports betting in North Carolina, the State Lottery Commission has awarded eight interactive sports wagering licences, including heavyweights like FanDuel and DraftKings, ahead of the scheduled launch on March 11.

In a statement released by DraftKings, the company said, "DraftKings is ready to bring our best-in-class sportsbook to North Carolina."

FanDuel also came out and said, "We're excited to bring our expertise to North Carolina and provide a top-notch sports betting experience."

The operators secured partnerships with local sports teams, leagues, or venues, with notable collaborations including DraftKings with Nascar and BetMGM with the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Caesars Entertainment, holding a service provider licence, awaits approval from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

The company also released a small statement saying, "Caesars is thrilled to extend its reach in the US and provide an exceptional betting experience."

The state will be the 30th in the US to offer online sports betting, featuring a tax rate of 18% on gross gaming revenue.
