The Québec Online Gaming Coalition (QOGC) urges the provincial government to embrace an open online gaming market, citing missed opportunities amidst a record $11 billion deficit in the 2024-25 budget.

The coalition forecasts substantial tax revenue of $230 million annually, advocating allocation toward essential sectors like the economy, health, and education.

Spokesperson Nathalie Bergeron criticized the government's inaction, emphasizing the need to heed expert advice and emulate Alberta's recent regulatory measures.

Bergeron lamented the preference for protecting Loto-Québec's monopoly over bolstering public services and societal welfare.

Drawing a parallel with Ontario's successful implementation of an open gaming market in 2022, which yielded significant revenue and contributed to the province's GDP, the QOGC implores Québec's Minister of Finance to reconsider Loto-Québec's exclusive mandate.

Instead, the coalition calls for the establishment of a regulatory body to oversee private operators and ensure responsible wagering practices.

Comprising members from leading gambling entities like DraftKings, Entain, Flutter Entertainment, and Rush Street Gaming, the QOGC aims to influence policy decisions in Québec's online gaming landscape, advocating for a more inclusive and lucrative market approach.
