The Dallas Cowboys' contract negotiations with star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb are not progressing smoothly.

On Thursday night, Lamb responded to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' comments about the lack of urgency in contract talks with an "lol" on social media platform X.

Jones stated, "I don't expect not to have CeeDee Lamb," and added, "I don't have a sense of urgency about getting it done. Put any reason you want. I was at Nobu two days ago. Give that as the reason. Whatever you want to put out there."

With the regular season just a month away, this situation is concerning for Cowboys fans.

In the final year of his rookie contract, Lamb led the league with 135 catches last year and is one of the NFL's top wide receivers.

He is holding out and incurring fines while awaiting a new deal.

Jones' lack of motivation to finalize Lamb's contract adds to a peculiar offseason for the Cowboys.

Despite claiming to be "all-in" on building a Super Bowl-winning team, the Cowboys made few significant roster changes and are now playing hardball with one of their key players.

In addition to Lamb's contract, the Cowboys also need to address a new deal for quarterback Dak Prescott, who is entering the final year of his contract.

This offseason, several top wide receivers, including Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, and A.J. Brown, secured lucrative new deals.

Lamb aims to join this group soon, but it appears Jones will dictate the timeline.
