It was an extraordinary day for Spain and Spanish-speaking nations, with three monumental victories bringing immense joy to Spain and Argentina!

The triumphs began with Carlos Alcaraz clinching the 2024 Wimbledon Championships by defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

Spain continued the winning streak by dominating European football with a victory over England in the Euro 2024 final.

Lastly, Argentina completed the celebratory hat-trick with a thrilling extra-time win against Colombia in the Copa America final, thanks to Lautaro Martinez's decisive goal.

Carlos Alcaraz Wins Wimbledon Title

For years, the tennis world pondered who could succeed the Big Three—Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal—who collectively hold 66 major titles.

On Sunday, 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz proved he's up for the challenge. Fresh off his French Open victory, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic for the second consecutive year in the Wimbledon final.

Unlike their 2023 classic, this year's match saw Alcaraz dominate from start to finish, winning 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in just two hours and 27 minutes.

The Centre Court crowd, including actual royalty, celebrated Alcaraz's fourth major title as he was hailed as tennis's next king.

Spain Wins Euro 2024

Spain is now the king of European soccer, claiming a record fourth European Championship title.

Completing a dominant tournament run, Spain defeated England 2-1 in the final, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring the winning goal in the 86th minute.

Substitute Oyarzabal slid in Marc Cucurella's cross just as the game seemed headed for extra time.

England, still without a major men's title since the 1966 World Cup, watched as Spain lifted the trophy at Berlin's Olympiastadion.

Spain adds 2024 to their Euro titles from 1964, 2008, and 2012.

Argentina Wins Copa America 2024

Argentina secured its second consecutive Copa America title with a 1-0 victory over Colombia, courtesy of Lautaro Martinez's 112th-minute goal.

Despite Lionel Messi's injury in the 64th minute, Martinez's late strike, assisted by Giovani Lo Celso, clinched Argentina's 16th Copa title.

The match at Hard Rock Stadium, delayed by crowd trouble, marked Argentina's third major title in a row, following their 2021 Copa America and 2022 World Cup wins.

Martinez's goal ended Colombia's 28-game unbeaten streak, solidifying Argentina's status alongside Spain, who similarly dominated the 2008 and 2012 European Championships and the 2010 World Cup.
