Racing enthusiasts, start your engines!
Today marks the commencement of entries for the highly anticipated 2024 edition of the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA, an event meticulously organized by the Red Arrow for the last five years across Middleburg and Washington DC.
Set to unfold from October 22 to 27, the 2024 event will follow the successful format of previous years.
The action kicks off with a one-day training session on Italian regularity racing techniques at Summit Point Motorsports Park, paving the way for the exhilarating Coppa USA – a three-leg race covering 800 kilometers and featuring challenging sporting events.
Downtown Middleburg will witness the starting point for the race days, with routes venturing into the picturesque surroundings known for horse riding and polo competitions, culminating in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains.
The first leg's race lunch promises an exquisite experience at the Barboursville estate, renowned for its Italian-origin vines.
The race will weave through Constitution Highway, featuring stops at the Palladio Restaurant, an authentic Italian culinary gem, and the historic 1804 Inn and Cottage.
The second leg sees a return to Summit Point Circuit for circuit practice, while the grand finale, after a lavish lunch at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, unfolds on Italian soil at the Italian Embassy in Washington DC.
Crews will be categorized into two types: Veterans, where at least one driver participated in two or more 1000 Miglia or Ferrari Tribute 1000 Miglia races, and Novices, where both drivers partook in at most one 1000 Miglia (or Ferrari Tribute).
The race is limited to 40 cars, divided into two classes: the "1000 Miglia Era," showcasing models from the historic 1000 Miglia, and the "Post 1000 Miglia Era," featuring Sport and Grand Touring cars built from 1958 to today.
Pre-1957 vehicles of significant historical or sporting interest, even if not part of the historic 1000 Miglia, will be included on a Guest List within the 1000 Miglia Era class.
Enthusiasts eager to secure their spot can take advantage of the early bird entry fee until May 3. The final deadline for entries is September 20.
Lando Norris' F1 victory at Miami Grand Prix draws record US viewership, breaking past records by 48% with 3.1 million tuning in on ABC.
